ANOTHER HONEST BLAST AT RELIGION

Plass has done it again! He takes the ordinary things we religious people do and puts them under the microscope of reality. As we see ourselves as we really are we have to laugh, cry and realize that Jesus really is nice and he likes us IN SPITE OF THE SILLY THINGS WE DO. This diary shows us a more mature, thoughtful diary writer than before. All the family and friends are there, and I had a definite feeling that my knowledge of them was growing deeper.
Don't be afraid to read this if you are a Christian. It doesn't make fun of Jesus, but of us. This is something that we are certainly deserving of, and Plass delivers a healthy dose of humourous-medicine that challenges our status quo and invites us to run giggling into the arms of the One who loves us so much He'd rather die than live without us!

Excellent!

This was the third book by Adrian Plass I read and it's just as good, probably better than the others. The humour isn't quite as silly and it's much deeper. A wonderful, heartwarming book.

Either you get it or you don't.

Not everyone gets Plass' humor, but if you can get into the mind of the man writing the diaries you get a wonderful ride! He has a wonderful way of expressing loving honesty about the faults and foibles of God's people, and the inner struggles that most of us face trying to live out a faith that is sometimes over our heads. I love this book! It's light, easy reading, and if you are willing not to take yourself and your religion too terribly seriously you will enjoy this book a lot.

About the Author
Dr. Michael L. Hardman's distinguished career includes positions at the University of Utah as Interim Senior Vice President (Provost) for Academic Affairs, Dean and Professor in the College of Education, University Coordinator for the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Center for Community of Caring, associate dean for research, and chair of the Department of Special Education and the Department of Teaching and Learning. Other accomplishments include being appointed Governor's Representative to the California Advisory Commission on Special Education and serving as Senior Education Advisor to the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr., Foundation in Washington, D.C. for 20 years, as past president of the Higher Education Consortium for Special Education, and on the International Board of Directors for the Council for Exceptional Children. He has directed or consulted on numerous international projects on school improvement for U.S. AID, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and UNICEF. He has numerous publications in national journals and has authored several successful college textbooks. As a researcher, he has directed international and national demonstration projects in the areas of educational policy and reform, developmental disabilities, professional development, inclusive education, transition from school to adult life, and preparing tomorrow's leaders in special education.

Dr. Clifford J. Drew is a professor in Special Education and Educational Psychology at the University of Utah. He spent ten years in the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and has been with the University of Utah since 1971. He has over 110 scholarly contributions, including books, chapters, and articles as well as national and international presentations; and more than $11 million in federal, state, and private sector grants to his credit. His articles have appeared in Exceptional Children, American Journal of Mental Deficiency, Psychology Reports, Psychonomic Science, Science, Mental Retardation, Journal of the School of Psychology, School of Psychology Review, Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, Journal of Learning Disabilities, and American Journal of Family Therapy, among others. His academic interests include research methods, human development and disabilities, applications of information technology, and outreach in higher education.

M. Winston Egan, professor emeritus and past chair of the Teacher Education Department in the David O. McKay School of Education at Brigham Young University, has taught children of all ages, preschool through high school. He began his special education career at Utah Boys Ranch. His writings appear in Behavior Disorders, Journal of Teacher Education, Teacher Education and Special Education, Journal of Technology and Teacher Education, American Journal of Distance Education, Journal of Special Education, Rural Special Education Quarterly, and Teaching and Teacher Education. He has been honored with several university teaching awards including Professor of the Year, Blue Key National Honor Society at Brigham Young University; and Excellence in Teaching Award, Graduate School of Education, University of Utah. He has also been an associate of the National Network of Education Renewal (NNER). His interests include distance education, teacher socialization and development, education for democracy, and emotional/behavior disorders in children and youth.

TEXT ~ GOOD

The review has two be in two parts,,the book and the procvess. In our house you have a former social studies teacher and a college student that used the text book. We found the text book adequate / good. Also to note the condition of the used book received was great. The book was academic while not being to the point of a turn off. Note dumbed up with loads of pictures, this was a college text. Now the process, textx book are obscenely priced. Terrible. We rented and what a great deal.Cheaper and as said above, it arrived in grwat shape. Beat the sad book pricing ...rent. .

I adopted this text for several reasons: It seems to be most strategic of the strategic HR textbooks, in that it requires students to synthesize across different readings and draw some conclusions from various points of view. Second, I chose this book for my executive students because their usual preference for writing and reading is concise, to the point. The reading structure of this book creates almost an "executive summary" feel, but it is reasonably complete and cohesive throughout. Third, my HR colleague on our faculty has used this book for several years, and there are advantages to both of us using the same book. In the past I used Baron and Krep's book, but my students absolutely hated it. They seem to like this book fairly well. The chapters are concise and to the point, which is great, especially for my executive students. The organization is easy to follow, and the readings have been picked out that coincide nicely with the topics at hand.

I liked the mix of theory, readings and cases. I was looking for a text that provided access to current writings and thought on SHRM. This was the only text I found that had this more creative approach.

Higher-quality writing and research-based chapters.

The text was adopted largely for the reproduced articles/readings. It was great to have several seminal articles in one book.

About the Author
Jeffrey A. Mello is Dean of the School of Business and Professor of Business Law and Management at Siena College. . He previously held faculty and administrative positions at Barry University, Towson University, the George Washington University, the University of California at Berkeley, Golden Date University and Northeastern University, from where he received his Ph.D. He has been a recipient of the David L. Bradford Outstanding Educator Award, presented by the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society, and has received international, national, and institutional awards for his research, teaching, and service. He has authored five books and published more than one hundred book chapters, journal articles, and conference papers in journals such as the JOURNAL OF BUSINESS ETHICS, BUSINESS HORIZONS, INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, BUSINESS & SOCIETY REVIEW, JOURNAL OF EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION LAW, SETON HALL LEGISLATIVE JOURNAL, JOURNAL OF INDIVIDUAL EMPLOYMENT RIGHTS, PUBLIC PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT, EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES AND RIGHTS JOURNAL, LABOR LAW JOURNAL, JOURNAL OF LAW AND BUSINESS, and the JOURNAL OF MANAGEMENT EDUCATION. Strategic Human Resource Management

The book covered a lot of ground. I believe it offered a lot of insight into the world of human resources, primarily, the challenges faced by HR today. Some highlights were the concept of valuing human assets, the implications of globalization, federal regulations, the importance of well-designed and applicable feedback systems, employee separation and compensation. Overall, it was a fairly easy read. I would recommend this book to professors, students, and entrepreneurs.

Finally, an HR Text that Focuses on Strategy

This is a great textbook for the instructor that wants to focus on HR strategy. Practically the entire first half of the book deal with strategic issues. My only concern however is that it is woefully out of date - four years old - and some of the materials show it! I have used this text for several years in graduate classes that I teach.

Moving & beautifully written "coming-of-age" story

Some people may think of this review as revealing "spoilers" though I promise it's all rather vague.

Javier is a 20 year old college student who thinks he is in love with Ana and is thereby seemingly happy with his young lot in life. But then he is fated to meet Ana's younger brother Jose and - partially because of a sexy blue Speedo bathing suit (which MAY well turn out to have some symbolic meaning toward the end of the book) - Javier's world turns around the other way and the two boys begin an obsessive - if somewhat lopsided - "love affair" with one another under the convincing guises of tutor and student. Resultant academic success for 17 year old Jose leads to a celebratory 4-day mountain hike that begins romantically but which is ultimately troublesome and achingly bittersweet for the two boys.

Their sad separation leads to severe mental problems for Javier and it is under those regrettable circumstances that the reader really begins to feel deeply for him; his slow improvement encourages that empathy. Then, delivered in a somewhat surprising and circuitous way by a friend of his former student, the blue Speedo bathing suit comes back to Javier from Jose and we're not really sure whether the sexy bathing suit is meant to be an apologetic "peace offering" or a "love token" of reconsideration. But no matter ... the gift along with its messenger serve a positive purpose and Javier appears to have found true love and contentment at last. A moving, beautifully written "coming of age" story.

LOVED Jaxon!!!!!

I want to start by saying Thank You to the author for asking me to read and review her book. This was quite the GEM. I was intrigued when I read the blurb, but didn't really know what to expect, since I had never read anything by this author. I will say I was pleasantly surprised. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was so much more then just a NA love story, where a broken girl meets a boy and they get together. This time yes we have a broken girl, but she is also the player. Yes she meets a good looking bad boy, but there is so much more to him...he has a secret. Yes they get together but there is so much more to them and their relationship. This story was a great love story but with the element of suspense. I just knew that Jaxon was hiding something...I was thrilled to learn that I was right all along :). This book will bring out many different emotions in you will reading it, but to me that's what makes it a 5 star book.

Tessa and Jaxon were great characters in my opinion. Yes Tessa was a broken girl but she was still a strong little spitfire. I truly enjoyed that she had a specific belief when it came to who she associated with and she stuck to it. No matter what it cost her. There was one part that I wanted to throttle Tessa. She comes from a horrible family unit. After her family suffers a tragic loss her parents, who of course to NO blame whatsoever, pretty much shut her out. Plus there were other things that happened in Tessa's past that would make anyone not trust people, but at one point that lack if trust really screwed things up. You'll need to read this book to know what I'm talking about. Now....as for Jaxon. He was great!!! I know he was keeping something but he truly didn't want to but had no choice. Jaxon was such a sweet man and you could totally tell that he was completely in love with Tessa. I loved that he refused to have sex with her until it truly meant something to her and wasn't just another conquest. But let me tell you that when they do finally get together....it is HOT!!!! I also loved the pace that the author takes their relationship, it made it believable.

As for Piper and Ryan ( Tessa and Jaxon's bff's) I loved their characters as well. I would love to get their story because I really don't think it is finished.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a love story with a little bit of suspense and a story of learning how to trust and love again. I am excited to read more books by this author.

Loved it! Sexy, steamy, and fun! 5 Sexy Stars!

I seriously could not put Lawful Overdose down! I already loved Justine Elvira as an author from reading the Price series, but this one has topped the charts for me. Lawful Overdose is insanely sexy, hot, and angsty. Tessa and Jaxon are definitely at the top of my list of favorite couples. Tessa is a strong, vivacious girl that doesn't take crap from anyone. Jaxon is smoking hot! He is "fan myself with my kindle, I wish he was real" hot!

Tessa Grayson lives her life partying, and trying to fill a void that was left after the death of her sister. Her parents practically ignore her, so she uses sex and alcohol to fill the empty space left behind. She isn't looking for love, she isn't looking for anything serious. When she spies Jaxon Wyatt, possibly the best looking man she has ever laid eyes on, she wants to have one night of wild, passionate, earth shattering sex.

Jaxon Wyatt has just transferred to the same university as Tessa. He has moved to town to be closer to his older brother, Ryder, who happens to be Tessa's boss. He is immediately enamored by Tessa on his first night in town.

The first interactions between Tessa and Jaxon are full of sexual tension. Jaxon wants Tessa and Tessa wants Jaxon. What they want from each other is very different. Tessa only wants one night of uninhibited passion, Jaxon wants more.

I'm not going to go into more of the plot, because I can't without giving it away, just know that the plot is amazing. I felt completely connected with Tessa, Jaxon, Piper, and Ryan. Piper is Tessa's best friend, and Ryan is Jaxon's best friend. Secrets are kept, betrayal is misinterpreted, hearts are broken, then secrets are revealed.

Lawful Overdose is an amazing book. Like I said, I already was a fan of Justine Elvira, but this book really hit the spot for me. It is my favorite of her books so far, and I can't wait to read more from her! 5 Sexy Stars!

Wow, where to start..... I fell in love with this book. Loved Jax and Tessa....hoping Piper and Ryan will get their own story someday. This was a terrific sexy as hell read and I am just speechless right now. Just finished but had to get this rating out there for book lovers everywhere to grab a copy of this NOW!!!! Great story:) I cannot wait to read more from this author in the future, she has now moved to my "must-read favorite author" list!!!!!
